Fictitious and Incorrect Adverts
It is a Criminal Offence under the Nigeria Criminal Laws for anyone to place an advert for fictitious goods and services or to knowingly place an incorrect advert or good and services that are non-existent. Anyone who does so puts himself or herself at the risk of a Police arrest and criminal prosecution.
Business ads
Ads relating to trade, business or offering a service can be placed as well as personal.
Car stereos
Advertisements selling or wanting incomplete car stereo units are not accepted.
Lingerie
Lingerie ads are only accepted from businesses and must be approved by the Copy Advice team.
Personal ads
All ads e.g. Friendship, Heartsearch and Contacts must be approved by the Copy Advice team.
Pets and animals
Naijamart does not accept advertisements for: American Pitbull Terriers (or Pitbull type dogs), Ban Dogs, Tosas, Monkeys, Lorikeets, Hornbills, Turacos, Hummingbirds, certain breeds of Parrot, Parakeet, Macaw, Cockatoo and Toucan, as well as any species we know to be endangered. We require proof of Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Agriculture registration for birds of prey. Naijamart will accept advertisements for tortoises, as long as they do not appear on the CITES list, and a copy of the advertiser's licence will be required.
Photographers
Advertisements concerning amateur photographers looking for models are accepted as long as the Copy Advice team has approved them.
Radar equipment
Any devices designed to detect radar will not be published.
Satellite equipmentSmart cards for sale, either integrated with or independent of a satellite system are unacceptable. Advertisements for add-ons for computers, which allow access to satellite channels, or devices which interfere with satellite companies transmissions will also not be accepted.
Videos
Ads for adult videos must be certified by Government Agency. NTSC laser discs are not acceptable.
Watches
Copies of particular brands of watches are illegal to buy and sell, and thus will not be published.
Weapons
All advertisements for guns, rifles and pistols are not accepted.
